Sexuality Education for Youth Across Canada

Sexpressions provides comprehensive sex education for youth across Canada. Stephanie Mitelman, Certified Sexuality Educator, offers workshops for teens, workshops for parents and workshops for First Nations communities. She also tours across Canada to offer training for teachers and health care providers and resources for teaching sexual health in the classroom.

Many teachers are required to teach sexuality education in one capacity or another. Trends in sexuality change over the years and adults can often be left at a loss for understanding the needs of their students. Her one day intensive workshop “Understanding Adolescent sexuality and Teaching Sex Ed” will explore new trends in sexuality and provide teachers with accurate information on some of the risks involved in adolescent sexuality as well as allow teachers to become more familiar with these issues and more comfortable presenting sex education materials to their students
Topics include; Anatomy, understanding adolescent sexual behaviors, current trends with teens, STI Information, birth control and condom information, how to answer difficult questions, and tools for teaching.

With teen pregnancy rates and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS over the Canadian average in First Nations communities, Aboriginal communities are in need of a specialized sex education program for their community workers, teenagers, parents and teachers. Stephanie also offers training and resources for First Nations communities.

Sexpressions also offers a full line of resources for teaching sexual health in the classroom which include the sexual health trivia DVD, classroom activity kits, anatomy posters, lectures, safer sex totes and teaching manuals.

Finding the right images to use in a presentation to teach reproductive health to youth can sometimes be a challenge! The anatomy posters are cartoon drawn, colorful images to illustrate the male and female internal and external reproductive organs in an accurate yet friendly way.

The teaching manual is a collection of information, activities and resources from several different Canadian sources. The safer sex tote lets you gather all your materials for an effective sex education class!
